Centering Music and lighting of Advent Candle
All: We wait in hope for a better day.
One: Bitterly we weep at night, tears on our cheeks
All: We wait in hope for a better day.
One: We sit in darkness wondering what can be done. How will the violence end?
All: We wait in hope for a better day.
One: We light this candle from all the darkness in our world.
All: May its light remind us that all over our world there is destruction and darkness, so we wait in hope for a better day.
Advent Response (tune: Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence NCH 345)
Shine on us, O God of justice;
Guide our path through gloom of night;
Bear within us Wisdom’s glory;
Come to us, O Christ the Light.
Morning Prayer Concerns and Celebrations
Prayers of the People and Lord’s Prayer
Our Mother-Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kin-dom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kin-dom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Invitation to the Table
One: Let us pray together:
All: Loving God, through your goodness we have this bread and cup to offer which the earth has given and human hands have made. May we know your presence in the sharing of this bread, so that we may know your touch in all bread, all matter. We celebrate the life that Jesus has shared among his community through the centuries, and shares with us now. Made one in Christ and one with each other, we offer these gifts and with them ourselves, a single, holy, living sacrifice. Amen.
Prayer of Thanksgiving
The Lord be with you. And also with you.
Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to God.
Let us give thanks to our God.
It is right to give God thanks and praise.
At this table we are called to gather and remember Jesus’ life and teachings. We recall with gratitude Jesus’ life and death and resurrection. We give thanks for his way of challenge and his teachings of justice with mercy. We give thanks for him reminding us that love is paramount, and that what is required of us is to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God.
So now, in gratitude, we join our voices to those of the Church on earth
and in heaven singing:
All: Holy, holy, holy God, God of power and might.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory!
Hosanna in the highest!
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of our God!
Hosanna in the highest! Our God, we come to share the richness of your table…. until your
kin-dom comes.
One: we now join our hearts and voices with the church throughout the ages proclaiming the mystery of our faith:
All: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ comes again.
One: So hear us now as we pray:
Our Mother-Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kindom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kindom, and the power, and the glory, forever.
Amen.
Breaking of the Bread and Sharing of the Cup
Pastor: Come Holy Spirit, as you moved over the face of the deep, move over us and these gifts of bread and cup. Consecrate them that they may become life anew for us and for all the world. Amen.
Prayer of Gratitude
One: Let us give thanks together.
All: Gracious God, you have gathered us at this table with all the company of your people in heaven and on earth. In your mercy we have been nourished by the living bread, Jesus Christ, and we have been refreshed by the power of your Holy Spirit. May we, who have shared this holy meal, go out as glad disciples of Christ, following in Jesus’ way, proclaiming God’s truth, and living God’s love for the world. Amen.
